Risk Assessment Completed for International Retailer
Tad Davies led a Data Center Risk Assessment for an international retailer. The initial stage involved reviewing information obtained from the client via a formal Request for Information process. The data supplied included existing assets supporting the mission critical environment, current and future anticipated capacities, outage or near miss occurrences, and maintenance history/practices. This stage was followed by a two-day site survey and site interviews. Disciplines addressed included architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, monitoring, physical security, and facility operations.
The deliverable consisted of a report in presentation format describing the risks discovered and potential mitigation strategies. An excel-based scorecard tool organized by disciplines was also provided. It is used as an on-going tool to address risk items. As risk items are addressed and each risk’s score is updated, the overall scorecard results improve.
“We believe that our scorecard tool will be a simple and fast method to record progress against risk issues that can be shared with leadership,” stated Davies. “Data Center management is so overwhelmed with work. This can alleviate significant time and effort spent reporting.”
